Designated Heritage Property Grant Application Program Spring 2024
We are committed to preserving the heritage and history of our community for generations to come. In order to promote heritage revitalization projects, we offer a grant to help fund conservation of properties that are
designated
under the Ontario Heritage Act. We will match 50% of the eligilble cost of the renovation, up to a maximum of $4,000 subject to available funds.
The program runs every spring, with a second round in the fall subject to available funds.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Designated Heritage Property Grant, your project must conserve the heritage attributes of the property. The property must be:
Located in the Town of Caledon;
Designated under the Ontario Heritage Act:
as an individual property under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act
OR
as a contributing property in a Heritage Conservation District under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act
Not
approved for a Heritage Property Tax Rebate for the same taxation year

with any questions regarding eligible work.
Please note that eligible work does
not
include:
Alterations, renovations, or repairs that do not conserve the heritage attributes of the property;
An extension or addition to a designated property that is of contemporary construction; or,
Interior renovations, unless interior heritage attributes are identified in the property's designation by-law.
Before you start, make sure you have the following:
Owner and agent (if applicable) contact information, including name, address, phone number and email address
Address of designated property
A brief description of the renovation project (including current digital photos, drawings and plans)
An explanation of how the project will preserve, restore or enhance the heritage attributes of your property
A description of the methods, materials and techniques to be used
Two digital quotes from heritage contractors who have experience in the proposed work (re-pointing, etc.). Please contact us at

if you are experiencing trouble receiving a second quote.
